ShardReaderCookie Policy
One cookie signs you in. Everything else is a setting kept in your own browser.
The short version. ShardReader sets one cookie, and only after you sign in. It is what keeps you signed in. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party trackers, which is why you are not asked to accept anything when you arrive.
1. Cookies

The cookie is marked HttpOnly, so no script can read it, and SameSite=Lax, so it is not sent from other
websites. It holds a random identifier, nothing about you.
2. Things kept in your browser, which are not cookies
These live in your browser's own storage on your device. They are never sent to the server, and never leave your machine.

Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it. Nothing important is lost: your account keeps the things that matter.
3. Third parties
- Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages, and may set one on ours during checkout to prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Google sets cookies if you use "Continue with Google", handled entirely by Google's sign-in window.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used here.
None of them are used for advertising by us, and none follow you to other sites on our behalf.
4. Why there is no cookie banner
Consent is needed for cookies that are not strictly necessary. The only cookie set here is the one that keeps you signed in, which you ask for by signing in, so there is nothing to consent to. If that ever changes, a proper choice will appear before any new cookie is set.
5. Turning cookies off
Every browser can block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking the sid cookie means you cannot stay signed
in, but reading everything public still works perfectly.
